Section 1 Overview
Originator Itasca County and Surdex Corporation
Title High Resolution Orthoimagery, Itasca County, Minnesota, Spring 2018
Abstract This dataset contains leaf-off 4-band red, green, blue, infrared (RGBI) digital orthophoto imagery produced at 12-inch resolution from new aerial photography captured in Spring 2018. The imagery covers Itasca County, in northern Minnesota.

The downloadable shapefile shows the project flight lines, including an attribute for the date that each image was flown. This metadata record was created using information supplied by Surdex Corporation.
Purpose The imagery will be used for various planning, design research and mapping purposes.
Time Period of Content Date 05/2018
Currentness Reference Ground condition. The imagery was flown May 10-14, 2018. See the "DayFlown" attribute in the flight lines shapefile for the exact dates.

Section 2 Data Quality
Attribute Accuracy All files are inspected to ensure that they conform to the specified file naming conventions, all files load in their correct geographic position.
Logical Consistency All files are inspected to ensure that they conform to the specified file naming conventions, all files load in their correct geographic position.
Completeness All files are inspected to ensure that they conform to the project specifications for file standard and content.

White line issue: The data was provided to MnGeo in non-overlapping tiles in State Plane coordinates. When the tiles are converted to UTM Zone 15 coordinates, they do not overlap perfectly, due to rounding errors. This causes a white (offsite) dashed line, about 2/3 on and 1/3 off, to appear between the tiles in the finished product. The line is one pixel wide, and thus only visible at the highest resolutions, at scale factors of about 1:10,000 or closer. It is only faintly visible at a scale of 1:24,000.
Horizontal Positional Accuracy Imagery and data meet ASPRS and NSSDA accuracy standards for 12-inch GSD products.
Vertical Positional Accuracy Not applicable.
Lineage Processing Steps:

1. Surdex Corporation:

Color digital imagery was flown at 1 inch =200 foot scale over an Area of Interest of approximately 3067 square miles under Master Contract 16AAP.

The imagery was processed and triangulated, and then it was fully orthorectfied and mosaicked for 12-inch digital orthophotography delivered as 4-band tiles sized 5,000 feet square. All survey ground control was also acquired and processed by the County of Itasca while imagery was controlled using Airborne GPS/IMU technology on board the aircraft at the time of acquistion and processed against a stationary GPS base station.

One Mrsid-GEN4 mosaic was created at 15:1 compression ratio for the color imagery, using Lizard Tech V8.0 software.

The imagery was provided to Itasca County in the State Plane Coordinate System 1983 (NAD_1983_HARN_StatePlane_Minnesota_North_Feet), with units in feet, 12-inch resolution.

2. Minnesota Geospatial Information Office (MnGeo)

Itasca County provided the imagery tiles to MnGeo which then reprojected the imagery from State Plane Coordinates to UTM coordinates, Zone 15, NAD83 and added it as a layer to the Geospatial Image Service.
