The 2009 BWCA Summer orthophotography includes the northern border near the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and has a 0.3 meter resolution. Areas included cover much of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, northeast St. Louis, northern Lake and Cook counties, and southern Ontario, Canada. It originated from the United States Geological Survey. Orthophotography is extremely useful for determining land use and land cover. Because of this, it can provide important context for specific locations and other spatial data. If multiple years are available, it can also be used to identify changes that take place on the landscape.
