This data layer is the 2009 North Central border summer orthophotography. It originated from the United States Geological Survey and includes the north central section (east Roseau, most of Lake of the Woods, northern Koochiching, and Northwest St. Louis counties [MN] and southern Manitoba and Ontario, Canada) of the northern border at a 0.3 meter resolution. Orthophotography is extremely useful for determining land use and land cover. As a result of this, it can provide important context for specific locations and other spatial data. If multiple years are available, it can also be used to identify changes that take place on the landscape.
