The 2009 Northeast Spring orthophotography includes Carlton, Cook, Lake, and St. Louis Counties and has a 0.5 meter resolution. It originated from the MN DNR and partners. Orthophotography is extremely useful for determining land use and land cover. Because of this, it can provide important context for specific locations and other spatial data. If multiple years are available, it can also be used to identify changes that take place on the landscape.
