The 2009 Superior Lakeshore summer orthophotography includes the North Shore of Lake Superior in St. Louis and Southeast Cook Counties and has a 0.3 meter resolution. It originated from the United States Geological Survey. Orthophotography is extremely useful for determining land use and land cover. Because of this, it can provide important context for specific locations and other spatial data. If multiple years are available, it can also be used to identify changes that take place on the landscape.
