This data layer is the Pits, Quarries, and Prospects component of the Minnesota Aggregate Resource Mappling Program (ARMP) dataset. It was developed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. The Pits, Quarries, and Prospects layer is a compilation of current and prospective aggregate resources in select counties across the state. Aggregates are necessary for the construction of roads and buildings and are costly to transport. The goals of the ARMP include providing a better understanding and responsible use of the state's aggretate resources.
