Extent of available data.
This data layer indicates the boundaries of Cities, Townships, and Unorganized Territories. It was developed by the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Minnesota Geospatial Information Office. The Townships are political, not land survey, and the Unorganized Territories are those defined by the US Census. Cities and Townships are important administrative units in Minnesota. They are responsible for a variety of local activities that can include police and fire protection, water and sewer service, street maintenance, and recreation, among others.
