This data layer is the Upper Midwest Gap Analysis Program (GAP) Land Cover for the years 1995 - 2000. It was developed by the United States Geological Survey. It was produced using computer classification using two-season pairs of early 1990's Landsat 4/5 Thematic Mapper satellite imagery. The GAP project aims at prioritizing lands for conservation activity, in addition to uses such as inventorying, land use planning, and spatial analysis.
