Extent of available data.
This data layer is the Hydrography Open Water dataset. It was developed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and includes lakes, mine pits, wetlands, rivers, and some streams. The size, location, and type of a surface water body is important to understanding the potential consequences of activities on the landscape. Because of their vulnerability to degradation, connectivity with groundwater, and exceptional ecological and economic importance, the potential to impact them should be carefully considered.
