This data layer is the Trout Angling Metric of the Parcel Environment Benefit Assessment Tool (PEBAT). It was developed by the University of Minnesota. PEBAT was created to assist in the prioritization of public land acquisitions in Minnesota. It uses the 40 acre public land survey parcels as summary units and has eleven metrics. The Trout Angling Metric identifies the catchments (small watersheds) of legally designated trout streams that are also popular. Trout angling is an economically important and popular recreational activity in Minnesota. Identifying and protecting areas that are near trout streams can improve water quality, fish populations, and recreational opportunities.
