Extent of available data.
This data layer indicates the locations and routes of State Water Trails. It was developed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (MN DNR). These trails were developed for canoeing and kayaking. They are designated by legislation and recognized by the MN DNR. Except for the trail along the North Shore of Lake Superior, they are exclusively located on rivers. Canoeing and kayaking are economically important and popular recreational activities in Minnesota. The State Water Trail system gives paddlers access to these exceptional routes.
