Extent of available data.
This data layer indicates areas in the Wildlife Action Network (WAN). It was developed by the MInnesota Department of Natural Resources and is derived from 10 data layers that represent quality aquatic and terrestrial habitat across the state. Five of those layers with complete or near complete statewide coverage were used to rank the areas within the Wildlife Action Network on a scale from poor to excellent. The Wildlife Action Network identifies significant aquatic and terrestrial biological areas across the state with the intent of aiding conservation efforts to address large scale threats, including climate change, invasive species, habitat loss, and others. Large areas and connections that facilitate species movement will support biological diversity. Targeting conservation within the network will increase the effectiveness and efficiency of actions to reduce the primary causes of population declines.
